Welcome

A cozy corner of Pacific Grove

We opened our restaurant in 1996 in an old, red, historic Victorian house in the heart of Pacific Grove — and we've been busy ever since.

Our cuisine is best described as New American with a European influence and a strong emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients, with daily specials that follow the day's market. Sit on the wraparound porch, tuck into the sunny dining room, and stay a while.

We thank our patrons and friends for your support, and look forward to your next visit.

Our Story

130 Years on the Corner

"Everyone always asks us about the history of the Little Red House…" — so here it is.

1895

A Victorian Is Born

The charming red house with its wraparound porch is built at Lighthouse Avenue & 17th Street — a private family residence.

The 1890s

It Moves House

The whole house is relocated up the street to Lighthouse & 19th, beside a lot of eucalyptus trees — now the town post office. It hasn't budged since.

1995

Restored to Glory

After a century, the Little Red House is lovingly restored to its original condition, ready for a new chapter.

1996

The Café Opens

Christopher & Laura D'Amelio open Red House Café in the main house, with a garden shop in the old carriage house. Both are still here today.

2009

A Star on Screen

The Little Red House and its garden are featured in a national AT&T television commercial.
